Neurodiversity Advisory

For Parents

Having worked for many years across the age-range in education in my roles as teacher, SENDCo (special educational needs and disabilities coordinator), psychoeducational assessor and vice principal, together with my in-depth experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary team as a psychotherapist, I have developed my Neurodiversity Support Services.  This area of my work focuses on identifying constructive pathways to supporting children, adolescents and young adults on their journey through education. The aim is to look in-depth at educational and therapeutic needs together, including behavioural support structures where needed, and help to identify what might be blocking current educational progress and more generally impacting on a child or young person’s quality of life.

An Initial Consultation incldues:

  • Review of past professional and school reports prior to meeting

  • An in depth consultation meeting with parents (1 hour to 1:15 in length) where we:

    • review your child's history in detail

    • evaluate current support structures (if any are in place).

    • ensure you are clear on the roles of professionals involved and what you can expect from them

    • advising on ways in which to investigate unexplored areas of need

    • Help prioritise steps moving forward

  • When appropriate, I can work with you following the consultation to help improve communication channels with school or other professionals

  • We can also determine if on-going support may be useful

Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Coaching

Education health and care plan coaching helps parents navigate the EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) process whilst considering what kind of educational environment might best suited your child’s needs. I also offer mediation support to help parents and school work more collaboratively whilst keeping the child or young person at the centre of decision making.

For Professionals

Workshops and training for schools and other organisations:

I offer a wide range of talks and workshops for schools and organisations focusing on neurodiversity and mental health. The aim of each session is to support and empower teachers, parents, SENDCOs, school nurses, pastoral care staff, therapists and other professionals by providing insights and resources to help them better understand and serve the needs of the young people in their care.

Neurodiversity Mentorship for Professionals:

One to one or small group mentorship for school pastoral care leaders/teams, individual teachers/school staff or therapeutic professionals is offered in person or online. These  sessions, often scheduled monthly, offer professionals an opportunity to further their understanding of neurodivergence and executive functioning, thus helping cultivate more effective strategies for therapeutic engagement with neurodivergent clients.
